At-Risk Limbs More Likely to See Catheter Than Scalpel

Endovascular therapy overtook surgical revascularization in the treatment of critical limb ischemia between 2003 and 2011, with an accompanying reduction in major amputations and in-hospital mortality, national hospital data showed.

In this video, Mehdi H. Shishehbor, DO, MPH, PhD, of the Cleveland Clinic, discusses the findings his group reported online in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology ahead of presentation at the ACC's annual meeting in Chicago next month.

Shishehbor disclosed no relevant relationships with industry.
